Kookaburra Kids go wild at Featherdale Wildlife Park!
The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation supports kids living in families affected by mental illness. The program provides recreational, educational camps and other activities, giving kids a break, in a fun, positive and safe environment. Kids have the opportunity to meet other kids in similar families and develop new friendships. Featherdale's education officer, Louie Vassallo hosted a fun-filled educational visit for 30 children who don't often have the chance to "just be kids!"
With wonderful ANZ Volunteers and Kookaburra Kids staff in tow, the Kookaburra Kids had the opportunity to meet a huge variety of Aussie animals during a special lesson in Featherdale's amphitheatre. Some of these animals included a Shingle-back Lizard, Saltwater Crocodile, Tawny Frogmouth, Bilby and of course, a visit from our gorgeous Koala, Cleo.
Following the lesson, the group enjoyed a scrumptious sausage sizzle cooked by Louie himself. Featherdale is incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to show these unique children a wild day out, and also very proud of Louie for faciliating the visit. Featherdale would also like to thank the Kookaburra Kids organisation for their endless support for these children, as well as the corporate volunteers who dedicate their time to assist in rewarding such a brilliant bunch of kids.
