Social Story For Autism Awareness Month

1st April 2016

The 2nd of April 2016 is World Autism Awareness Day!

One of our valued guests, member of the Autism Community Network (ACN) and mother of two children with Autism, Briana Blackett approached Featherdale Willdife Park with an idea to increase the accessibility of our fantastic park to children with Autism and their loved ones. Knowing first hand how difficult new experiences can be for families like her own, she wanted to break down many blocks to allow for a wonderful day out with us!

Briana has created a Social Story, which is a short overview presenting some simple wording and pictures of a typical visit to the park. This fantastic document will assist in reducing uncertainty and anxiety whilst visiting an unfamiliar place and opens up an array of WILD new experiences for guests with Autism.
