NSW Tourism Awards Launch
6th May, 2014
The 2014 NSW Tourism Awards program kicked off with a launch event at First Fleet Park, Circular Quay, this week. Supported by Destination NSW and hosted by the NSW Business Chamber, who has taken over the management of the NSW Tourism Awards this year after acquiring the NSW Tourism Industry Council, this is the 25th year the awards program has been run. Featherdale Wildlife Park has taken out the Gold in the Major Tourist Attractions Category in 2005 and 2009.
The launch event featured singer and Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan, previous NSW tourism award winners (on a state and national level) and industry VIPs. Some of NSW’s leading tourism operators also brought a taste of their experiences to the launch, including animals from Featherdale Wildlife Park.
NSW Business Chamber CEO Steve Cartwright today encouraged tourism businesses everywhere to get involved in the 2014 awards.
“The benefits of being involved include benchmarking your business against colleagues, increased exposure and awareness, expert feedback from the judges and the chance to compete on a national level.
After winning Gold in 2009, Featherdale's Park Manager, Rick Webb was understandably thrilled, “The award is fantastic because it rewards the dedication and devotion of our staff to Featherdale, which is reflected in the customer experience that we deliver. The people we have at Featherdale are passionate about the Park and love working here, and this carries through to every interaction we have with our customers”.
