Status: Moderately common.
Diet: Probes for worms and crustaceans, insects and also eats vegetable matter.
Habitat: Estuaries, mud flats, mangroves, sandpits and occasionally inland.
Breeding: Breeds in the northern hemisphere, nests in a hollow pressed in mosses or other soft surfaces. Three to five eggs incubated by both parents.
