Scientific name: Podargus strigoides

Size: 45cm

Status: Common.

Diet: Large insects, spiders, invertebrates and small lizards are their main prey.

Habitat: Woodlands.

Breeding: One to three eggs are laid August to December on a platform nest in a horizontal tree fork approximately 13 - 15 metres above the ground.
