Diet: Small fish, crustaceans and insects.
Habitat: Coastal mud flats or edges of inland swamps, rarely in water more than 10cm deep .
Breeding: Breeds in loose colonies during Spring - Summer. Four blue eggs are layed on a fragile stick nest.
