Scientific name: Charadrius (Peltohyas) australis

Size: 20cm

Status: Common

Diet: Feeds at night on beetles, ants, insects and grasshoppers.

Habitat: Ploughed farm areas and open sparse plains.

Breeding: Usually three eggs are laid in a scraping in the ground between February and November.
