Diet: Grass, leaves and roots.
Habitat: Sclerophyll forest usually 300m above sea level but will also live in dense scrub.
Breeding: Will breed any time of the year, one young at a time, the young live in a pouch for 6 months.

  Although nocturnal often grazes during the day. The expert digger.
The wombat's strong forearms and strong claws make it able to dig large burrows and tunnels.
The female's pouch opens at the back so dirt doesn't get in while she digs. The baby is carried in the mother's pouch for 6 months.
Although heavy (35kg) and strong, the wombat is not aggressive. It eats only grass and plants. It is mainly nocturnal and stays in its burrow by day. |
