Common Goanna
/Common+Goanna/$File/Common+Goanna.jpg) The Common Goanna, also known as a Lace Monitor, lays their eggs in a hole they dig into a termite mound, the termites then patchup the hole. There are reports of female Goannas returning 12 months later to open the mound to free the hatchlings.

Diet: Insects, reptiles, small mammals, nesting birds and carrion.
Habitat: Open forests and woodlands.
Breeding: Six to twelve eggs are laid and they take between 90 and 200 days to hatch.
