Hello, I'm Todd Lehn. I can't remember when I didn't want to spend my life working with animals. Now I'm a zookeeper here at Featherdale, I reckon I've got the best job in the world.
5.45am
Alarm went off. Another day begins!
6.00 - 6.30am
Had breakfast and left for the Park.
7.00am
Got to work just as Chad was arriving. He's always looking after baby animals and has to take him home every night. Cool! Started my day's work which includes getting the park ready for the first visitors of the day.
9.00 - 10.30am
Spent some time over at the Koala Sanctuary. I spoke to Featherdale visitors about koalas and then helped take a photograph of them with the koalas. (This is definitely a highlight of everyone's visit).
10.30 - 12.00
Every day, the staff is then split into teams: K1 - spend the rest of the day in the Koala Sanctuary.K2 - spend the rest of the day doing necessary repairs and cleaning around the park and in the exhibits.
Today, I was allocated to K2 and helped smarten up the wallaby's enclosure
12.00 - 1.00pm
K2 Lunch.
1.00 - 2.00pm
K1 Lunch. While the K1 Staff are having their lunch the K2 Staff replace them, so it was back to the Koala Sanctuary for another hour.
4.30pm
Came home and fed my two dogs, bird and pet snake, Charlie.
